The Human Animal

Civilization is a thin guise
That clothes the animal within.
Hunter or prey,
You fear what's in sight.
Avoiding claw and fang,
You bare your teeth
With hands and feet.
Always ready for fight or flight,
You prowl the day and stalk the night.
Acquire, acquire,
Desire, desire.
